Trip
February 7 (Friday) Mt. Cook→Queenstown
The road leading to Milford Sounds couldn't be reached due to the landslide due to the heavy rain, so I decided to go sightseeing in Queenstown.
In the morning, I walked along the shores of the lake (Lake Wakatipu) from the accommodation to the Queenstown Gardens like the peninsula south of
the city of Queenstown.
It was a beautiful park with roses and other flowers in the
garden.
After that, I took a gondola that traverses the city and
connects Bobs Hill at 790m in the northwest of the town
about 10 minutes.
At the observatory, I enjoyed the spectacular panoramic
scenery of the lake, mountains and town.
I returned to the city and decided to take a boat to
Walter Peak, where the sheep farm is located, but it was
quite expensive!
But I thought it was good to go when I remember later.
From the lakeside harbor we arrived at Walter Peak Farm in about 45 minutes on a 1912 steamboat. After that, the tour is tailored to a sheep dock show, a sheep cutting show, a walk through the ranch, and a 3.5-hour sightseeing trip back by steamboat.
If I had been to Milford Sounds, I might not have been so slow.
February 8 (Saturday) Queenstown→Christchurch
Along the way to Christchurch, drive for about 500 kilometers while having lunch and tea breaks.
What I thought about driving a long distance was that I chose a medium-sized car RAV4, regardless of the small car.
I think I didn't feel so tired.
After arriving in Christchurch, I went on a sightseeing tour of Christchurch Cathedral (Cathedral) on foot from the accommodation, but the cathedral was still unrepaired and was in a broken state.
Christchurch was the biggest city I've visited in New Zealand, but I didn't know if it was the place I visited or if it was after the shop closed in the evening.
Good point③ ➡In NZ, there is little traffic on the road and it is a long-distance drive,
so rent a medium-sized car or more.
February 9 (Sunday) Christchurch → Oakland → Osaka
Check out YH in the morning and return the rental car at Christchurch airport.
Unlike the departure flight, the return flight completed the procedures without any problems and was able to return to Japan.
What I was worried about when I returned to Japan was that the number of people infected with the new coronavirus was increasing.
There were various problems since I arrived in NZ, but I think that this is also a great taste of the trip.
The effects of the new coronavirus were minimized, and I think I was very lucky to enjoy traveling abroad at a good time.
